Long-Term Follow-Up of Medial Pivot Total Knee Arthroplasty: A Systematic Review of the Current Evidence

Total knee arthroplasty (TKA) is a popular treatment for end-stage osteoarthritis. Advances in understanding biomechanics have led to the development of medial pivot (MP) prostheses, which aim replicate natural kinematics. While short- and mid-term studies shown favorable outcomes MP-TKA, long-term follow-up are limited. This systematic review aims analyze available evidence on including survivorship, complications, patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs). A comprehensive search was conducted PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Database Systematic Reviews English language reporting primary MP-TKA. Nine with an average 12.4 years were included. Data PROMs collected analyzed. The overall survivorship MP-TKA 98.2% at years. Aseptic loosening periprosthetic joint infection (PJI) most common reasons revision, revision rate 0.4% each. complication 6.6%, secondary anterior pain PJI being frequent complications. reoperation 3.1%, primarily due instability. significantly improved postoperatively. demonstrates high low rates, enhanced PROMs. procedure provides reliable management osteoarthritis, offering patients function relief.
